I’d lick an Old Dudes Face Too!
I saw one of the best designs I have seen in a long time. It’s corky and a great way of showing a good old time.  Kathleen Lourden’s Ad Concepts for Faria Raji’s class are simply put as brilliant. Sure many people would think pictures of old people making out and licking icing off each other’s face is strange but I thought it was bold, in a good way. It takes some guts in order to pull off something that is normally completely disturbing. If the ad was for any other product it might be taken negatively. Though I would lick an old mans face for the frosting on a Krispy Kreme. That’s the point to show this treat as so desirable that people would go to extremes in order to enjoy it. I really enjoy that thought process and such a different way from showing people excitement in such an odd way.

That amazingly trippy photo!
It caught me way off guard and by it I mean Jason Meadows’ untitled landscape piece. It’s such a vivid display of color that is shown off so well even looking at just the color itself the are so beautifully placed in the realms of the composition helping the eye travel throughout the piece. It’s size is massive for a photo ad works so well in developing a sense of depth and playing off of fanasties of walking into it. The composition creates a feel of a center point and helps with the viewer to feel more into the piece. I looked at it and my first words “What an amazingly trippy photo!” I was instantly hooked and I stared more and more at it. The only down side to the piece was its name it would’ve helped give a sense of how the artist attempting to make us feel. I would’ve love to know what was going through his mind.

Fondue for two please!
Normally people don’t really think to much about product design and it’s such a shame too because sometimes certain designs are such beautiful things. Lik Kenneth Tay’s fondue set or even Earle Yuee Seo, Jacqueline Bae and Hyein Jwa’s set that are so different from one another but they both are fantastic designs. Tau must be a romantic because he created the perfect wedding proposal set or romantic night in their tent set. I’m just saying. Seo ,Bae, and Jwa had more of a cute picnic in the park feel. It wasn’t the typical romantic set but it was fun for going out with friends and hanging out with melted cheese.  The two pieces were different but worked really well. Chooses were made for specific reasons and in order to convey a feel which worked.

The same unoriginal character design
Why? Why did Dk Lee make the same generic character design that has been through ever cycle of every popular at the time game. Now don’t get me wrong the piece is beautifully rendered but when I look at pieces I look for substance and Dk Lee didn’t put any in it. The typical white pretty boy and the giant animal best friend routine have been done many times before. Also the pretty, “ruff”, big, boobed girl as an obvious romantic interest is lame. It’s also been done before. Other than the stereotype each character follows I don’t remember too much about them. That’s the problem it didn’t give me inspirational qualities it should have. For now I’ll continue to not be a fan of his work till he gives me something to look forward too.

Jimmy Rhum
Jimmy Rhum traveled the United States singing folk songs on a box crafted guitar. That tale sound believable well even more so when you look at the beautifully handcrafted piece that Ryan Cho made. It’s hand painted designs created such a folky feel to the piece that when I read it belonged to a man by the name of Jimmy Rhum I looked him up. I’ll save you the search he’s no real he’s a character that Cho created. It was bold to tittle the piece as an artifact of this Jimmy Rhum creating a whole world and showing it off. It’s a smart way of tricking people to look up Jimmy Rhum and then forcing them to see more of his work. Overall it’s thought out really well. I enjoyed it and would like to see more of Jimmy Rhum.
